Why Should
Your School Have an Invention Fair?
“ It is
important to recognize the entire story of civilization is based on
invention. Invention is historically one
of the strongest driving forces in human
affairs. If children can comprehend
invention, they can better understand the past and the present and predict the
future more reliably.”
-- B. Edward Schlesingers, Jr.

Inventors Fair recognizes one student
per entry. Science Fair CO registered group entries have been allowed but
can only be recognized and awarded as a single person entry.
Two methods of selecting award
recipients are utilized for both Science Fair and Inventors Fair. Each method
is independent of the other!
First, Grade Level and
Division Judging: Judges fill out score cards rating the performance
of the participant in required categories. The scores are tallied and those
students with the highest scores are recognized. Trophies and related awards
recognize winners by grade level and in Inventors Fair, by elementary,
middle, and high school division levels.
Second, Special Category Awards: With
few exceptions, previous scores are ignored and projects are judged on specific
merits. Yes. A student with a low overall performance score can still win a
coveted Special Category Award! There are scholarship awards that by
design recognize winners by grade level, division level scores, as
well as exceptional areas of performance.
